Tom Daley soared into the limelight at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 where he competed for GB at the age of 14, he became the youngest competitor to compete in any of the Olympic finals and whilst he did not win his talent was signposted for the home audiences to follow. His maturity and politeness in front of the camera have gained him many fans, who were able to enjoy seeing him win a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic games.
Tom will certainly be one of those home grown talents who will be under enormous pressure to do well on the back of such early success. In some recent interviews it has been underlined that as his body changes, as he grows older, he may find it more difficult rather than easier to scale the diving ranks, this may be a way of softening the media blows if he is unsuccessful or a realistic way of reducing the inevitable hype.
Winning the BBC young Sports Personality of the year three times in 2007, 2009 and 2010, an unmatched feat, Tom will definetly have the enthusiasm and pressure of the British public at his back.
