It is intriguing that Britain seems to be most successful at the Olympic Games in sports that have been the traditional realms of the wealthy and aristocratic and four times Gold medallist Ben Ainslie represents just such a past time. His father captained a boat that took part in the first Whitbread Round the World race in 1973, so sailing has clearly always been in his blood.
His Olympic career has been dazzling, first winning gold in 2000 in the Laser class before chunking up by 40 pounds to compete in the bigger Finn class where he secured gold in both 2004 and 2008 in Beijing, rewarded in 2009 for his achievements with a CBE, before taking gold again in 2012.
